Christmas at Biltmore84 viewsThe Biltmore Gardens
No serious gardener should fail to visit the beautiful gardens at Biltmore Estate, which begin displaying their gorgeous blooms in April and continue to exhibit an ever changing display of nature's beauty until the leaves fall in October. These wondrous gardens are the legacy of Fredrick Law Olmsted, described in the March 2005 edition of National Geographic Magazine as maker of our nation's first great urban parks and founding father of landscape architecture in America.

Look for Radar Rd., just a tiny bit north of MP 4.41 viewsThree capes, a couple of tiny towns, a collection of hidden spots, one lighthouse and some one-of-a-kind natural oddities: these are the wonders in abundance along this 25-mile stretch of Oregon coast. It’s here where 101 veers away from the beaches, and the coast road is instead this winding, twisting journey through thick, lush forests interrupted by the occasional explosion of stunning ocean vistas, all the while just a little ways away from a bundle of beaches that are guaranteed jaw-droppers.

Netarts originally extended from Cape Lookout to Cape Meares. In the language of the local Killamooks "Ne ta at",

inside the lighthouse, really this is inside the light itself32 viewsCape Meares Lighthouse
Location: 10 miles west of Tillamook and the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway.
Noteworthy: Cape Meares Lighthouse can be viewed from the Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint. It stands 217 feet above ocean; and its 38-foot tower makes it the shortest on the Oregon coast.
Hiking: Trailheads from the main parking are to the lighthouse and viewpoints overlooking offshore islets inhabited by sea lions and nesting seabirds.

Oregon - Seattle Coast Hwy 10143 viewsThe neighboring cities of North Bend and Coos Bay are the coast's largest urban communities, with museums, shopping, theaters and an active cultural calendar. From either town, take a side trip west on the Cape Arago Hwy. that leads to Charleston, Shore Acres State Park And Historical Gardens and Cape Arago before rejoining Hwy. 101. Next is Bandon, a coastal center with art galleries, theaters and shopping. Nearby, walk through the West Coast Game Park Safari, or enjoy antique shops in Langlois.
